At first sight...

"At First Sight"...is a true story of a blind man who finds love and then sight only to find that seeing doesn't mean comprehending what one sees....

...The difficult road to understanding the visual world tests their relationship. The strain is taken to the limits when he begins to lose his sight once again...

A brilliant plot well enacted by Val Kilmer and Mira Sorvino. Really enjoyed watching a movie in TV on a lazy sunday afternoon after a long, long time!!

Mousumi's first job...

I am happy for Mousumi. Just because I do not have to worry about her travails of a boring and idle days at home. I recommended her to my boss to engage her in an activity to not only keep her grey cells working but also to experience working in a privately owned company and to network and get a feel of life!

The result....'Admin executive'(not bad to start off!) .She is presently handling a number of administrative tasks that keeps her engaged for most part of the day. I hope she will go a long way to further and build a long career out of it. I wish her the very best!!

Who cares....!!

Since the onset of 2007 life has been very eventful....or rather adventurous for me and this is how it goes in a nutshell....

1. Left a well settled, high-paying...may be, may not be and more importantly a very comfortable job.

2. In the process kicked the associated company stocks and the jaw-dropping year-end bonuses...

3. Joined a start-up, of course with a relatively fatter pay packet.

4. In this process, have taken up a challenging role...again may be, may not be.

2006 did not go so well as to my career plans...But who cares and what the hell...attitude got the better of me. I know that I needed this freedom from the whims of a super-large organisation from a long time...May be, this is the time to take some career-level risks. Of course, there will be the uncertainty if it pays off or not...But again, it got to and who cares...If there are mistakes, I am prepared to learn from it...

It is Now-or-Never! This is my window of opportunity to prove my mettle...not to anybody but only to me and myself! All this I know I am doing to make a destiny I long for....

Ushering 2007 with dreams and hopes to fulfill them...

God, give me the serenity to accept things that I cannot change, the courage to change things I can and  the wisdom to know the difference between them.

Always take your work seriously, but never yourself.

What is it to be married....??

Well, that is a one million dollar question!

One thing is for sure that you get to binge on and gorge up like a pig if your better half likes spending most part of the day in the kitchen...

Jokes apart, after one month of sajourn with your spouse (with whom you might have just talked or dated but not lived together) these are some of the observations that you might obviously make:

1. You never get to sleep late. Either she will wake up early or would wake you up and then would herself doze off merrily.

2. You would never miss the morning cuppa of tea/coffee and breakfast.

3. You would never get to wear your garments more than once. She would put those off for a wash.

4. Your house-hold items would wear a shine and would be happy-looking. I wasn't able to recognise my home after returning from my first day at office after marriage.

5. You would never get to watch your favourite soccer match on TV unless your better half is busy in the kitchen.

6. You would never be able to window-shop; especially decorative items. It is shopping galore!

7. You would never be able to watch your weight. It came as a rude shock to me that I gained 3 kgs. in a month.

8. Finally, you have to socialise and be nice and warm to everyone.

But this is not the end, I guess as you hear it this is just the BEGINNING!

The honeymoon trip to the state of Sikkim was fantastic and memorable. I am happy more so because Sumi savoured the trip.

Finally getting married...

Well, another eligible bachelor of good ol earth bites the dust. Am getting married on 3rd November 2006. Ordered for the reception suit yesterday. Am going to try a different design and look and I know either it will draw 'Wows' or 'Boos' . Anyways I have decided to take a chance....

Old-time friend Musa will be my best man at the wedding; after all he was the best man for that job after his successful experience last year.

Updates after a long weekend...

Somehow, I feel nice that nowadays I do get some time after all to blog..dunno till how long will this fizz last!

How the concept of 'Google doodle', 'free text ads'  and others were pioneered and how google rose to meteoric stardom has indeed been very well chronicled in "The google story"...Really the 30 somethings Sergey Brin and Larry Page deserve it!

K-Pax is really an amazing movie with flawless acting by Kevin Spacey. Kevin Spacey’s "Prot" is a wonderfully understated character with the gentle, knowing presence of an outsider who understands. It is his very calmness and seeming omnipotence that make his emotional outbursts, when they come, that much more intense and painful for audiences. He brings to the story the delicate sense of ironic humanity that comes from someone who may not actually lay claim to being human.

K-Pax is a very intriguing film. Is Prot (Kevin Spacey) really an alien, or is he a mentally deranged human who just thinks he is an alien? That is the question that Dr. Powell (Jeff Bridges) must answer before the self proclaimed deadline that Prot sets for his departure from Earth.

Watched India answer(s) to Oscars for 2006...Rang de basanti...In fact the interspersed real-life stories between the movie shown in TV really touched me and have forced me to introspect "what have I done till date to make a difference to the life of somebody or for that matter to anybody of my brethren, what?" Have I become so self-centered and materialistic? After all I have just one life  to live...Shouldn't we as the denizens of our country take up some responsibility too?

Lage Raho Munnabhai was also a good watch...Riding high on the success of its predecessor Munnabhai MBBS, Sanjay Dutt has pulled off another hit. And not only that it has also brought in the lingo of 'Gandhigiri' into the forefront. I wouldn't be surprised if it manages to find its way to the Oxford English dictionary.
